Entertainment Galore at the Russell Fair!

Russell, Ontario – August 22, 2007 – Thanks to the efforts of organizers – Gord Sheldrick, Bert Vedder and Theresa Wever – the 2007 Russell Fair will feature an exciting entertainment line-up. The Bayou Boys

“This year, we opted for entertainment featuring mostly tribute artists,” said Gord Sheldrick. The Friday
evening bands will include The Bayou Boys, a tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival, as well as the ever-popular entertainer D.W. James.

D.W. JamesThe Saturday afternoon entertainment should draw a good crowd with artists paying tribute to Shakira, Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake. Be sure to catch the group Gamut on Saturday night for a variety of rock and roll classics.”

According to Bert Vedder, “folks attending the Sunday afternoon entertainment at the Fair are in for a big treat with Nelson Colt – the lead singer and lead guitarist of an exciting new show ‘Pure Strait Country’ – a tribute to George Strait.”

The 2007 edition of the Fair also sees the return of the popular Karaoke Fair Fest Contest and the Amateur Talent Contest.

“Our entertainment is for all age groups and talent levels, plus there’s big money to be won” said Theresa Wever, whose committee is responsible for the arena entertainment. “If you are over 25 and you like to perform Karaoke, then the Russell Fair is the place for you. If you’re a talented vocalist, instrumentalist, dancer or group, then you’ll want to participate in the Amateur Talent Contest.”

The Karaoke Fair Fest Contest – to be held between 8:00 and 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6 – will let you perform your favorite songs and give you an opportunity to win some prize money. The Amateur Talent Contest has two age categories – up to 12 years, and 13 to 25 years of age – but you must pre-register by August 26. The competition will be held between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 8.
