Russell, Ontario – January 21, 2012
–
The Russell Agricultural Society held its annual meeting
this past week. The Treasurer and the President reviewed the events of
the past year and how the weather allowed us to hold such a successful
fair. The fair attendance continues to grow and the diversity of the
programming continues to improve. On hand were our local councilors
Pierre Leroux and Craig Cullen. In addition, the Ag Society was very
pleased to welcome both Pierre Lemieux M.P. and Grant Crack M.P.P. to
attend the meeting. It is with great support from all levels of
government that the Russell Agricultural Society continues to thrive.
Special presentations during the evening were made to Steven Bekkers
(who was unable to attend) as the winner for the most points in the
Commercial Features program of the fair. He was the winner of the Keith
Dugdale Memorial Award. The recipient of the Agricultural Service
Diploma went to Michael Bols. A long time director and Past President of
the fair, Mike has made an outstanding contribution to the long term
viability of the Russell Fair. His outstanding commitment to the
livestock area of the fair has been a key component to the fairs’
success.
As part of any annual general meeting there was the installation of the
new board for the coming year. The picture shows the new executive for
the coming year. If you have any questions or suggestions, don’t
hesitate to contact any of the executive.

Presenting the Agricultural Service Diploma
to Michael Bols is Past President Tony Baas.
