For Immediate Release
7th Annual Ladies Night
"Little Black Dress" to raise awareness and funds for Fragile X
Russell, Ontario - March 4, 2010 -
You are cordially invited to a press
conference on Monday, March 8th International Women’s Day at the Scotia
Bank in Russell @ 8:30 AM for the announcement of the Russell
Agricultural Society's annual Ladies Night event - a unique
dinner/theatre/auction for ladies only. The theme for this year's
event is "Little Black Dress" (the theme changes each year as does the
charity that benefit from the auctions).
We
are expecting another sold out crowd of 650 ladies on May 7th, 2010 at
the Russell arena. One hundred percent of the monies raised from the
silent and live auctions of the evening go directly to the charity. Over
the past seven years, this event has raised over $150,000.00 for
charities. The benefactors from these third party fundraisers have been
Cancer Society, Cystitis Fibroses, Juvenile Diabetes, Family Care Room
Winchester Hospital, Huntington Society of Canada, and last year Look
Good Feel Better program.
The event planners, organizers, entertainers and auctioneers all
graciously volunteer their time and skills towards these special causes.
We are thrilled to announce that Bill Welychka of A Morning Ottawa will
be the emcee for the evening. We are also pleased to have Scotia Bank,
ME Productions, Baysteet Salon & Spa and Chez Lili rentals as proud
sponsors of the event.
This year we are putting on the "Little Black Dress" to raise awareness
and funds for
Fragile X. Fragile X Syndrome (FXS), first known as
Martin-Bell syndrome, is the most common inherited form of mental
impairment. FXS affects 1 in 4,000 boys and 1 in 6,000 girls of all
races and ethnic groups. While Fragile X individuals have a normal life
expectancy, most will need support and care for their entire lives.
The evening starts at 5:30 with cocktails and silent auction, supper at
7pm. Tickets are $40.00 (reserved seating) for the event and can be
purchased by calling Judy McFaul 613.445.4161.
