Decorated Bale or Lawn Contest
 
  1st Place $225
  2nd Place $125
  3rd Place $100
 


Create a display at your place using bales of hay or straw. (Combination of round and square bales may be used) for the Decorated Bale or make a banner and decorate your lawn for the Decorated Lawn, advertising the Russell Fair, September 4, 5, 6, 7, 2008. One entry per residence.

Judging Score: Overall Appearance – 20%, Originality – 50%, Visibility of dates – 30%

Entry Fee: No entry or exhibitor fee required.

You may only participate in one of these competitions or the Scarecrow competition, not a combination of any of the three.

 

 
Rules for Decorated Bale Contest
1) Must use bale/bales as basis for display.
2) Must show fair dates, and remain on display for fair weekend.
3) Dates must be easily read by passing motorists.
4) Sign position must be legal (read by on-coming traffic) Sign must read: “Russell Fair, Celebrating 150 years – September 4, 5, 6, 7, 2008”.
5) All entries must be within 25 yards of a road allowance.
6) Bale must be decorated to represent something you would see at the fair, eg., animal, fruit, vegetable, ride etc.
7) The judges will judge entries on site, please include clear directions to your location.
8) An 8” x 10” picture of the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place entries will be on display during the Fair. Prize money will be mailed out after the fair.
9) Each contestant must pre-register with Shirley Vedder at (613)445-5791 or register here by August 8, 2008. Judging to take place the week of August 11, 2008.

1) Focus on lawn must be your banner with decorations being an added attraction.
2) Must show fair dates, and remain on display for the fair weekend.
3) Dates must be easily read by passing motorists.
4) Sign must read “Russell Fair, Celebrating 150 years – September 4, 5, 6, 7, 2008.”
5) Entries must be on your front lawn.
6) Lawn can be enhanced with items you would like to see at the fair.
7) The judges will judge entries on site. Please include directions to your location upon registration.
8) An 8” x 10” picture of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, place entries will be on display during the Fair. Prize money will be mailed out after the Fair.
