SPECIAL AWARDS

 

1.     Most points overall - $30.00 donated in memory of David Mackie.

RULES

 

a)       General rules and regulations of the Russell Agricultural Society apply.

b)       Exhibitors must be members of the Russell Agricultural Society.  Memberships, entry forms and entry tags are available from the Secretary.

c)       All entry forms must be in the hands of the Fair Secretary by Friday, August 29, 2008.

d)       Unless otherwise stated, the exhibitor must grow all vegetables and produce.

e)       Entries may be placed in the Curling Rink on Wednesday, September 3, between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. or on Thursday, September 4, between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m.

f)         Entries to be removed on Sunday, September 7, after 4:30 p.m.

g)       All exhibits must be in the quantities specified.

h)       Only one entry per exhibitor allowed in each numbered category.

i)         In lieu of entry fees, exhibitors will have an extra 10% deducted for winnings over $10.00 (ten dollars).

1.     Apples, 3, any variety, named.

1.       Beans, 5, wax.

2.       Beans, 5, green.

3.       Beets, 3, table use (2” to 2 1/2”, trimmed 1” above crown).

4.       Beets, 3, cylindrical (2” to 2 1/2”, trimmed 1” above crown).

5.       Cabbages, 2, green.

6.       Cabbages, 2, savoy.

7.       Cabbages, 2, red.

8.       Cantaloupe, 2.

9.       Carrots, 4, short, not over 4” (1” tops showing), named.

10.    Carrots, 4, half long, 4” - 8” (1” tops showing), named.

11.    Carrots, 4, long, over 8" (1" tops showing), named.

12.    Corn, 2, table use (1/3 cob husked), named.

13.    Cucumbers, 2, for slicing.

14.    Cucumber, 1, English.

15.    Cucumbers,  under 4” ,5, pickling.

41.    Herb collection, grown and displayed in a clay pot, minimum of three herbs.  Please identify.

43.    Vegetable display, 18" x 18" space, depicting the 150th Anniversary of the Russell Fair, using a minimum of 5 vegetables.  Vegetables need not be grown by the exhibitor.

44.    Farm produce collection, min. 6, each article named. Need not be grown by exhibitor.

45.    Novelty Section.  Unusual vegetable or fruit (e.g. odd-shaped, unusual variety, etc.).  Open to all age groups.  One prize only of $12.00 donated in memory of Ben Quaile.
