RULES

 

a)       Junior exhibitors must obtain an exhibitor number from the Fair Secretary prior to August 29 2008 but are not required to pay a membership fee.   Entry forms and entry tags are also available from the Fair Secretary.

b)       All other rules as stated on page 36 of the adult division of the homecraft class apply.

 

ENTRY SECTIONS

 

AGES 6 - 8 YEARS

 

Articles to be mounted where necessary.

 

142. Coloured drawing of a favourite sport.  Can be done on Bristol board (8 1/2” x 11”).     

143. Create snowman on coloured Bristol board (8 ˝” x 11”) using miniature marshmallows.

144.  Create your own picture on Bristol board using dried beans, seeds. Woodlands scene.

145.  Create a Christmas card, maximum size 5 ˝” x 8 ˝ “.

146.  Article made from a two-litre plastic pop bottle. Must NOT contain liquids.

147.  Ink pad thumb stamping.

148.  Novelty item for bedroom.

149.  Decorate a clay pot.

150.  Draw and colour a Christmas Scene size 8 ˝ “ x 11”, mounted on Bristol board which is 10” x 13”.

151.  Create a gift for your teacher.

152.  Build a scene in a shoe box (a diorama).

153.  Decorate a new T-shirt, any medium.

154. Photo of your favourite pet, captioned and mounted.  Must be taken by exhibitor.

155.  Create a pet rock, named, on paper plate.

156.  Something useful out of something useless.

157.  Create a farm animal collage on Bristol board (8” x 10”), cover background completely.

158.  Create a picture on Bristol board, flower collage (8” x 10”), cover background completely.

 

AGES 9 - 12 YEARS (also open to ages 6 to 8)

 

159.  Create own character from soft modelling medium or plasticine.

160.  Decorate own memo board, any size.

161. A sketched, fictional character, drawn freehand, i.e., no tracing, mounted, no colour.

162.  Dress a teddy bear in a Halloween costume.

163.  Dress a teddy bear in your favourite sports uniform.

164.  Make and decorate a pencil box any medium.

165.  Create a paper mache item.

166.  A coloured sketch, any theme.

167.  Create a novelty item, any medium.

168.  Create a greeting card using any technique.

169.  An item made from pine cones, decorated.

170.  Decorate a flip flop shoe, show one only.

171.  Construct your own spaceship, any medium.  NO LEGO.

172.  Sketch a split picture, any item, mounted.

173.  Create a pressed flower collage on Bristol board, maximum 8” x 10”, cover background completely.

174.  Article made from a two-litre plastic pop bottle. Must NOT contain liquids.

 

AGES 13 - 17 YEARS (also open to ages 6 to 12)

 

175.  Decorated a ready made birdhouse.

176.  Create your own Christmas Stocking using any fabric or any medium.

177.  Decorate a picture frame; frame can be any base.

178.  A greeting card, any technique.

179.  Decorate your own clay flower pot.

180.  Decorate a gift box, any technique.

181.  Create a Christmas article, pine cones must be included.

182.  Decorate a grocery bag for a Christmas gift.

183.  Something useful out of something useless.

184.  Create a Halloween novelty.

185.  Draw a tattoo design, mounted.

186.  Create a table mat using spool knitting (corking).

187.  Create a painting of your favourite television personality, using acrylic paint.

188.  Create a door decoration for your room.

189.  Handmade candle, any medium.

190.  Jewellery made from any size wiring, can be decorated.

191.  Create your own memory box and decorate.

192.  Drawing using pastels.

193.  Watercolour picture, on watercolour paper only.  Can be mounted.

194.  Split picture, any item, mounted.

195.  Produce a computer generated flyer, any event.

196.  Hand made quilt, any size.

          !  Must be hand drawn.

!    Poster size - minimum 11" x 17" (28 cm x 43 cm) to a maximum 12” x 18” (30 cm x 46 cm)

!    Must be mounted on a black art card to give a 2” border.

 

197.  “Promoting Your Fair” - Youth up to and including Grade 6. Must be mounted on black Bristol Board.

198.  “Promoting Your Fair” - Youth Grade 7 to Grade 12 inclusive. Must be mounted on black Bristol Board.

 

                The winner will be eligible to enter his/her poster at the district competition.  The district winner will compete for prizes at the O.A.A.S. convention in February.  The name of the fair, contact person, owner of poster and the school represented is to be clearly labelled on the back of the entry.  Winner of the District competition then goes to the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies convention in February where a grand prize of $25 and a plaque donated by the O.A.A.S. will be awarded to the provincial winner of each class; 2nd place - $15; 3rd place - $10.
