On behalf of the executive and Board of
Directors and all of our volunteers, I would like to welcome you to our
151st edition of the Russell Fair. Coming off a very successful 150th
year, we are trying to maintain our momentum into this year's fair. We are
extremely proud to hold the oldest agricultural event in our township.
This year you will see that we have expanded the grounds to try and offer
some additional entertainment for you.
We are continuing to make changes at the fair with the enhancement of the
Fall Cutting with an even bigger and better show. Come out and see what
this unique event has to offer. Some other new and
interesting things
include the addition of
Elephant & Camel Rides, a Sheep Dog
demonstration, as well as improved kids' entertainment and special
Senior’s entertainment inside the arena on Sunday. We are
also pleased to
announce our 2009 music headliner:
Barney Bentall & the Legendary
Hearts with special guest
Little
Bones (a great Tragically
Hip cover band)! Be sure to purchase your tickets early for the
Friday night show at the Russell Pronto or by calling 613-445-8624.
Also on stage we are happy to welcome
Wayne Rostad
to the refreshment area on Sunday along with The Gruff Sisters' Kitchen
Party. Also appearing at the fair will be
COUGAR and
Whiskey Sour.
Back by popular demand are the
Demolition Derby,
Deal or No Deal,
Karaoke Fairfest and our
Amateur Talent Contest. Every year
our goal is to try and have more activities that will attract a wider
variety of people. If you’ve never come to the fair before, or haven’t
come in a few years, why not come out and see what great hospitality the
Russell Agricultural Society has to offer. We look forward to being your
host.

To
make this event successful, it involves the commitment and dedication of
many volunteers. As you work your way through the fair this year, please
take the time to thank the people who, year after year, continue to make
this event a large success. It's really is a community event that involves
groups such as the
Russell Horticultural Society, the
Russell
Historical Society, the
Russell Lions Club, the
Russell
Curling Club, the
Russell Fire Department, the
Russell
Legion and various other community and sports groups. We do thank all
of these groups for their valued contributions.
Looking forward to seeing you at the 151st edition of the Russell Fair!
Come out and enjoy our hospitality!
Theresa Wever
